The rules for for both multiplying and dividing positive and negative numbers are the same:
If the two numbers have the same sign, then the solution is positive
Ex. | $7 * 9 = 63$ | $63 \div 7 = 9$ |
$ {^-7} * {^-9} = 63$ | $^-63 \div ^-9 = 7$ |
If the two numbers have different signs, then the solution is negative
Ex. | $7 * {^-9} = {^-63}$ | $63 \div {^-7} = {^-9}$ |
$ {^-7} * 9 = {^-63}$ | ${^-63} \div 9 = {^-7}$ |
